Unleashing potentials of technology seemed to have blurred the boundaries between local and global with serious implications for schooling and educational processes. Like elsewhere, education community in Pakistan is witnessing changing profile of the learners within unbounded learning spaces. The possibilities of collaborative teaching learning beyond the local into global has become a lived phenomenon. Pakistan’s first ever participation in the international learning assessment programmes (e.g. TIMSS*) reflects the country’s hopes and aspirations for preparing its learners along the lines of global benchmarks. This changing scenario of education in the country calls for collective engagement to discern education stakeholders’ preparedness for this challenge. The symposium will bring together education community to respond to the following key questions arising from the above background.
- Are teachers ready to facilitate collaborative learning beyond the local into global world?
- Are the educational leaders and schools equipped to sustain and expand their aspirations for participation in international learning assessment exercises?
- What creative and innovative teaching, learning and assessment strategies should the education community apply for the learners following accelerated learning models for meeting the changing standards of numeracy and literacy skills?
Who can participate?
School, college and university teachers, education researchers, formal/non-formal education leaders and professionals, education entrepreneurs and researchers
