Guest profile: Dr Rumi Chunara
Rumi Chunara is an Assistant Professor at New York University, jointly appointed at the Tandon School of Engineering (in Computer Science) and the College of Global Public Health (in Epidemiology/Biostatistics), where she teaches courses in biostatistics and data sciences. Dr. Chunara's research focuses on developing computational and statistical approaches for acquiring, integrating and using data to improve population-level public health, using data from inside and outside the clinic. Prior to NYU she was a Postdoctoral fellow and Instructor at Harvard Medical School. Her PhD is from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health, Sciences and Technology, Master’s degree from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Bachelor’s degree is in Electrical Engineering from Caltech with honors. She has been selected as an MIT Technology Review Top 35 Innovator, for a National Science Foundation Career award and research awards from Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
