Convocation 2016​​

The c​onvocation ceremony in Tanzania was held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Dar as Salaam. Professor Yunus Mgaya, Executive Secretary, Tanzania Commission for Universities, applauded AKU's significant commitment and ambitious expansion plans in Tanzania and East Africa in his speech as the Chief Guest.

This year AKU honoured 84 graduands with degrees. The Institute for Educational Development graduated 61 students who received Master of Education degrees while Medical College awarded Master of Medicine degree to one student. The School of Nursing and Midwifery conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing to 22 nurses.

In his welcome address, AKU President Firoz Rasul talked about the University's plan to develop as a comprehensive university educating the future leaders of East Africa in a wide range of fields.​​

Valedictory speech was delivered by Margareth Yagaza from the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
