Welcome to the AKU-IED Alumni Community!

​The graduates of the PhDMPhilMEd and Advanced ​Diploma Programmes form the alumni community of IED. Whether you belong to the MEd Class of 1996​​ or have just graduated from our PhD programme​, you are a part of AKU-IED and the larger alumni community at AKU!

We are keen to learn​ about your accompl​​​​ishments and your efforts to transform education in the communities you serve. We would also like to keep you informed about the new developments at IED and at AKU and help you stay in touch with your fellow graduates.​

A​lumni Advisory Council

The Council aims to strengthen meaningful connections among AKU-IED alumni, provide strategic insights into educational trends, and support the institute’s academic, research, and outreach initiatives. It offers alumni the opportunity to share their expertise, champion innovation, and enhance AKU-IED’s impact within and beyond the education sector. Members play a vital role in advising on emerging opportunities in education, strengthening alumni engagement, contributing to programme and research advocacy, and promoting resource mobilization through strategic partnerships.

The Alumni Advisory Council was formally launched on May 26, 2025, with its inaugural meeting held at AKU-IED and attended by the then Director, Alumni Affairs, Mr. Abdul Haq Wahedna. The Council comprises 10 members.

The second meeting took place on August 12, 2025, at AKU-IED, with participation from Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Alumni Affairs, and outgoing Director, Mr. Abdul Haq Wahedna. ((Dr. Farid Panjwani, Professor and Dean, Haris Tohid Siddiqui, Senior Manager, and Fiza Ashraf, from Partnerships, Planning & Operations), were part of both meetings.)

The council body comprises 8 members, 1 from Dubai, 1 from Hunza, 1 from Chitral, and 5 from Karachi, making it a diverse group. The elected Chair of the Council is Mr. Zain-Ul-Muluk, Manager, Examination Board, Aga Khan University, Karachi, and the elected General Secretary is Ms. Rubina Zaidi, International Educational Consultant, Dubai.
