Education for Prosperity

A project aimed at improving access to quality education primarily for vulnerable communities, including girls and out-of-school children.

Duration: 2024-2025
Location: Upper and Lower Chitral districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Funding Organisation: PATRIP Foundation

Overall Objective

The project aims to contribute towards the stability and improvement in social and economic prospects in remote and underdeveloped villages along the Pak-Afghan border.

Overview

The 27-month project will improve access to quality education by enhancing the capacity of teachers and stakeholders, adapting educational facilities to climate change, and offering vocational training and school safety education.

The project will target six government schools in border areas of Chitral, focusing on improving facilities, teacher training, and overall education quality. These schools grapple with challenges like limited space, damaged infrastructure, a shortage of teachers, and multi-grade teaching practices. The project's aim is to address these issues to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for local communities.

Capacity-building initiatives for government and community members in school safety measures and green retrofitting are intended to enhance the resilience of school communities. Moreover, enhancing the skills of teachers and educators in child-centered, gender-responsive, and inclusive teaching and learning methods is anticipated to lead to improved learning outcomes for all students.

Lastly, raising awareness among parents and communities about the importance of education is seen as a means to increase their involvement in ensuring that all children in their communities not only attend school but also remain and thrive in their educational journeys.
