Introduction

The Master of Education (MEd) programme is a two-year-long, full-time course, open to outstanding teachers and educational leaders at all levels of the education system. Participants may specialise in either Teacher Education or Educational Leadership and Management. The aims of the MEd programme are to: ​

  • Provide its graduates with a broad understanding of significant issues in education and in-depth knowledge in their specialised areas;
  • Ensure that graduates are able to exercise leadership, using a variety of approaches, to initiate and support improvement in school education, classroom teaching and participant learning;
  • To develop leaders in education who have acquired:
  • A strong commitment to educational change;
  • The ability to analyse situations critically;
  • Well-developed communication skills;
  • Flexibility in dealing with other people; and
  • Skills to enable and encourage graduates to participate in reflective practice, lifelong learning and educational improvement.
