Family Medicine Residency Programs

We offer specialist training in Family Medicine leading to the award of a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree. Family medicine is the medical specialty of first contact with the patients and is devoted to providing preventive, promotive, rehabilitative and curative care with emphasis on the physical, psychological and social aspects, for the patient, his family, and the community. The scope is not limited by system, organ, disease entity, age or sex. Trainees are exposed to a wide range of clinical problems and are offered the opportunity to acquire skills in a variety of procedures with a team-based approach to patient care.


The four year long programme offers clinical training in family medicine and other medical subspecialties. 

The courses/rotations include:

  • General Medicine

  • General Surgery

  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology

  • Paediatrics

  • Principle and Practice of Family Medicine

  • Practice of Urban-based Family Medicine

  • Practice of Community-based Family Medicine

  • Practice of Rural-based Family Medicine

  • Research

  • Electives
