Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) was the first University-affiliated nursing institution to offer BScN programme in Pakistan back in 1997. To date, the School has graduated 862 clinically competent BScN nurses and has a current enrollment of 579 students in the BScN programme alone.
Transitioning from a BScN Student to a Competent Nurse
BScN is a four-year nursing baccalaureate programme that equips students with knowledge, skills and attitude needed to practice nursing.
Upon completion, the graduates get an opportunity to enter the nursing profession as intern nurses. Following this one-year internship, they are eligible to appear in a mandatory licensure examination by the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), clearing which they will be able to obtain the license to practice as professional nurses.
At SONAM, our focus is on enriching and expediting the nursing experience of our students; from education to practice. The curricula for all our undergraduate and graduate programmes are benchmarked internationally and are designed to feature our state-of-the-art simulation lab, blended learning or e-learning methodology, clinical practice (in-house and in various community settings) and local and international internship opportunities. Our students have got it all under one roof!
