What We Do
The Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) builds on the Aga Khan University's existing strengths in health sciences. It focuses on innovating and implementing effective solutions for some of the world’s pressing health and development challenges. It aims to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the countries and regions where it serves and contribute to the Agenda 2030. This, at its core, is the mandate of IGHD.
With its work programme now underway, the Institute champions interdisciplinary research and action on major global health and development challenges. It advances AKU’s health sciences leadership in Asia and Africa through partnerships with sister agencies in the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and beyond. It aims to develop cross-sectoral approaches to address problems that require large-scale, coordinated, intersectoral solutions.
