Post-RM Bachelor of Science in Midwifery

AKU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) was the first in Pakistan to offer this unique midwifery programme that started in 2013.

Our Post-RM Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (Post-RM BScM) programme, offered every alternate year, prepares students to provide essential care, advice and support to women during pregnancy, childbirth and the early newborn care stages.

As part of the programme, you will get an opportunity to collaborate and work with other healthcare providers that will prepare you to deliver holistic care to women and their families at all levels of the healthcare system. This means that you will be applying your knowledge and skills in the midwifery practice throughout the perinatal period while you study.

It is an extremely flexible programme as it allows you to enrol as full-time, part-time or work-based students, enabling you to study alongside your existing work commitments.

Why SONAM?

At SONAM, we focus on producing leaders who are trusted to be the best in their field and are able to make an impact in the healthcare landscape.

Our students learn in a blended learning environment with a combination of face-to-face and online teaching and learning modules. They also get simulator training at the University's Centre for Innovation in Medical Education and a chance to work in hospitals as well as community-based healthcare as part of their clinical rotations.
