Building a Consortium to Address Complex Challenges Influencing Human Health to improve progress towards health and health-related SDGs (CHOICE)

Project Period: 2022 – 2025

Funders: International Development Research Centre; Aga Khan Foundation and Aga Khan University

Collaborators: Aga Khan University’s Institute of Global Health & Development, Brain and Mind Institute and SickKids Centre for Global Child Health

Project Summary:  Led by Aga Khan University’s Institute of Global Health and Development, this project is building a consortium to address climate change, inequality, and other complex challenges influencing human health. This will be achieved through two reinforcing measures: creating or activating in-country Think Tanks to facilitate work towards achieving the Health and Health-related Sustainable Development Goals (HHSDGs); and helping create country-based, regional, and global consortia comprising governments, civil society, academia, private sector actors and other stakeholders for accelerated learning, monitoring and advocacy for implementation of HHSDGs’ targets. This will also include a series of Lancet publications that contribute to the body of knowledge in implementation and acceleration of SDGs. The project is being implemented in Kenya, Ghana, The Kyrgyz Republic, and Ghana.

The Brain and Mind Institute is therefore leveraging this consortium to include components of mental health.
