Dr Jahan Salma joined AKU-CRM in 2017. Her research at the Centre is focusing on the development of disease-specific iPSCs with a focus on neural diseases, development of cerebral organoids and their functional analysis. She has led the setting up of an academic-clinical translational iPSC core at AKU-CRM. Dr Salma has more than 15 years of experience in molecular biology, neurobiology and stem cell biology. She has been working with human-induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (hiPSC) derived Neuro-Epithelial Stem (NES), neurosphere culture and neurite outgrowth analysis. She has also been conducting cutting-edge research on primary hippocampal neuronal cell cultures including hippocampal slice, astrocyte and cortical neuronal cell cultures in mice and rat models.
