Message from the Chair

As the Chair of the Department of Surgery, I am very proud of the important role we are playing and in the overall missio​n of the Aga Khan University and the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya. 

Our faculty members trained locally and internationally, are strongly committed to education, cutting-edge research and mentorship at all levels. Importantly, we are dedicated to equipping the surgeons of tomorrow with quality education, clinical skills, and attitudes in order to ensure excellent surgical services and compassionate patient care.

The Department of Surgery works towards excelling in education, service delivery, and evidence-based research. The vision of the department is to provide premier tertiary care in the field of surgery in sub-Saharan Africa. We also aim to provide well-trained surgeons that will provide leadership in education, service, and research in the East Africa region and beyond.
