​​Developmental Paediatrics Clinic




Developmental paediatrics is a sub-specialty providing holistic care to children and youth with special needs/disabilities and their families, with the aim of improving functioning and quality of life. We monitor the children and youth’s developmental trajectories with the goal of optimizing their potential to achieve their individual goals. 

We support families through provision of resources and educational sessions on different developmental conditions. We conduct childhood disability research with the objective of understanding developmental diversity and enhancing the care provided to children with special needs.​

Our services are provided in collaboration with other disciplines such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, behaviour analysts, speech and language therapists, orthotists, clinical psychologists, nutritionists, medical social workers and educationalists. 

Our services involve habilitation and rehabilitation of developmental disorders such as:

  • Global developmental delay

  • Intellectual disability

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Down syndrome

  • Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder

  • Visual and hearing impairments

  • Acquired brain injury rehabilitation 

  • Genetic disorders affecting development

  • Language disorders

  • Learning disabilities​

We provide pharmacotherapy for conditions related to developmental disorders:

  • Stimulant medication

  • Non-stimulant medication

  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors

  • Atypical antipsychotics

  • Medications for sleep disorders

  • Oral, intramuscular, intrathecal medications for tone management
