Haron N. Kibwage
Finance and Administration Manager
Haron currently serves as the Finance and Administration Manager in the department of medicine, Aga Khan University. He is an experienced financial management specialist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with final professional qualification in Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) course. Currently pursuing an MBA in Finance and Project Management.
Haron has over 17 years’ experience in finance, he has previously worked with Strathmore University, Heritage Hotels and ACROSS South Sudan NGO in various senior finance positions. Prior to joining Aga Khan University, he served as the Finance Officer for ACROSS South Sudan where he was responsible for strategy formulation, financial planning and reporting, budget management and control and systems compliance.
Haron has a rich experience in people management, proven knowledge and expertise in ensuring field offices adhere to financial policies, budget planning and development, monitoring expenditure and control, guiding project holders on project financial management, well experienced in financial training and building capacity of finance teams and excellent interpersonal skills.
Haron’s social interests include pro bono consulting & volunteering for local social boards and not for profit boards, aiming to positively impact the communities he lives in.
Norah M. Matheka
Personal/ Program Assistant
Norah's background includes Business Administration and Management, Business Communication, Community Development, Management of Information Systems, Health and Safety, Basic First Aid and Nutrition.
She currently serves as the personal/program assistant in the Department of Medicine (DOM) and TREE program (Research) in Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. Her duties include overseeing administrative assistants and the program driver.
Norah possesses great leadership skills with over 20 years experience in the field of administration, business management and accounting. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Daystar University with a cumulative GPA of 3.38/4.00. Norah received a higher diploma in Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) from Strathmore College/University. She is technically proficient in Quickbooks, Ms Word, Excel, Access, Power-point, and Internet. Familiar with windows operating system, online database such as dropbox, online communication tool such as slack as well as daily task planning tool known as Trello. A patient and great team player with interpersonal and intercultural sensitivity.
Some of Norah's achievements as an administrator/assistant are:
Facilitating treatment for cervical cancer patients
Establishing financial software data entry using QuickBooks
Organizing various team building activities
Encouraging activities that bring about cohesion amongst staff members
Shifting of financial reporting to a centralized system
Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs)
Training staff on various topics eg CV writing as well as entrepreneurship
petty cash accounts from other Principal Investigators
Spearheading activities around shifting the research program from Kenyatta National Hospital to Aga Khan University Hospital
Ensuring the research team have settled well in the new environment.
Organizing workshops eg. Grant Writing and Manuscript Writing workshops
Organizing lecture trips for incoming University of Washington Faculty to Aga Khan University Hospital.
On the social front Norah is fluent in spoken and written English as well as knowledge in Kiswahili. She has been involved and even led a team in church setting that organised activities (health and fitness programs) for 3,000 church members over a span of 5 years. She has been involved in various church committees which include young adults, as well as budget and finance. Norah has also been a vice chair in the SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization) she is a member of. Some of her favourite hobbies are meeting new people, running marathons, aerobics, cooking, baking, reading, and knitting.
Janet Mutiso Internal Medicine Administrative Assistant
Janet Mutiso currently serves as the Internal Medicine Administrative Assistant. She holds a degree in Mass Media Communication with a Major in Public Relations from Mount Kenya University and a High Diploma in Journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
Her additional training includes, Information Technology, Credit administration practices, Personal development- life orientations, Biomedical & Social/ Behavioral and a certificate in Interpersonal skills from the Tumaini Counselling centre.
Janet has over 14 years work experience in Administration, Communication, Public relations and Charity work. She has gained proficiency in executive support of local and expatriate staff and coordination of governmental stakeholder meetings. She has designed publication materials like newsletters, research brochures and book marks for individuals and organizations.
Prior to joining Aga Khan University Hospital, she worked as an Office Administrator at the Partners in Health Research and Development organization, Centre for Clinical Research project – Kenya Medical Research Institute and as an Administrative Assistant at the Africa Inland Mission International, Eastern Region office. For the last 7 years, she has been serving as a Board member for MAFAIM Sacco with a membership of over 300 members.
Her social interests include organizing events, helping the needy, volunteering and aerobics.
Eram Shehreen Khan
Personal Assistant to Chair, Department of Medicine
Eram Shehreen Khan currently serves as the Personal Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Medicine. Her key roles involve organization and coordination of departmental activities related to the Office of the Chair of the Department of Medicine.
Eram has over 16 years working experience with reputable organizations, including Kenya Sweets Limited, Starfreight Limited (Agility Logistics), Tronic Kenya Limited among others. She is well experienced in Administration, Accounts Assistant and Human Resource having worked in all the relevant departments. She was the Overall Best Student in her 1999 KCSE exams scoring a mean grade of B + aggregate.
Before joining Aga Khan University, she worked as the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director /Administrator and Human Resource Manager at Impala Downtown Limited. This was where she was blessed to gain immense knowledge and work experience extensively covering all the departments of the company.
Eram believes in working as a team and assisting each team member grow as an individual as well. She assists in running a Children’s Home for orphan kids in Nakuru, Kenya, and this not only fulfills her social life but also enriches her soul.
Internal Medicine Administrative Assistant
Maureen Maina currently serves as the Internal Medicine Administrative Assistant. Maureen’s background majors in Business Management holding a higher diploma from the Kenya Institute of Management(KIM). Her additional training includes, use of QuickBooks Software for Accounting Double Entry for small to medium sized companies from the Royal Business School and an additional Entrepreneurship Training. Maureen is also proficient in Ms. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet.
Maureen has over 8 years work experience in HR and Administration, she has gained proficiency in training through organizing various seminars for both the government, NGO’s and
Corporate sectors. Prior to joining Aga Khan University Hospital, she worked as an Office Administrator at GEARR Consultants Limited, and Administrative Assistant at Sakai Trading Limited and Countrywide Properties Ltd. She also worked in the HR Department at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) in the Year 2011. Her social interests include mission work having served as a missionary in Gulu – Uganda, Mbita- Kisumu and Malindi-Kenya in the Year 2008. She has also served as a member of the mission committee in her Church. Maureen enjoys reading inspirational books, writing poetry and travelling.
Administrative Assistant, Department of Medicine
Roselinda on the surface is an Administrative Assistant at Aga Khan University Hospital in the Department of Medicine with extensive experience working in the business sector.
She graduated from United States International University with a Bachelor of Science in International Business Administarion.
Prior to joining Aga Khan, Roselinda worked in various organizations’ like: the American embassy to Kenya where she helped improve outreach to the Kenyan Community, United States International University – Africa where she facilitated the day to day running of the departmental projects.
When not working, Roselinda enjoys volunteering to developmental projects, socializing with friends, reading and music.
