Message from the Chair

It is my great pleasure to introduce you to our Department of Population Health.

Situated within the Aga Khan University, Faculty of Health Sciences in East Africa, the Department will promote and accommodate a university-wide population health science approach.

We endeavour for the new Department to develop high-quality activity in population health science education, research and programmes to serve populations most in need, and to translate evidence into policies and practice to improve the health of populations. As a convergence science, we will draw on basic, clinical, environmental, social, behavioural, economic and other sciences to understand and promote wellness across the life cycle, and throughout the East African region.

Our qualified faculty, trained both in Kenya and overseas, constitute a multi-disciplinary team of epidemiologists, medical anthropologists, public health physicians, development practitioners and statisticians.

As we grow our Department, we will continue to stay true to our core values of pursuing excellence, transformation, innovation and integrity to ensure social accountability, empowerment and health equity.

Stay tuned!
