Surgical Simulation Workshop on Laparoscopy

Introduction and Aims

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed abdominal surgical procedures. It provides faster recovery, shorter hospitalization and smaller scars. Unlike conventional strategy of learning by practicing on patients, CIME offers a simulation course where the participants get the chance to have hands-on training using LapSim which is a virtual reality based simulator. This course provides experiential learning in a safe environment with room to make mistakes and without the fear of harming patient.

This workshop is designed to advance learners’ cognitive proficiency and decision-making abilities as tactile skills are honed. From clipping the cystic duct to removing the gall bladder, this course simulates each critical step in this frequently performed laparoscopic procedure.
