​Workshop on Hypertension

Introduction and Aims

This simulation-based workshop is designed for general physicians working in private clinics throughout Pakistan. It aims to equip learners with the necessary skills required to identify high risk hypertensive patients, examine them, and interpret their findings.

 Learning Outcomes

Following this workshop, participants will

  • Identify and interpret the critical clinical characteristics of an abnormal heart sounds associated with hypertension.
  • Demonstrate fundoscopy with an appropriate technique.
  • Identify ocular fundus pathologies and differentiate them from a normal fundus.
  • Demonstrate correct technique of providing basic life support in adults and paediatric population.
  • Demonstrate an appropriate history taking & physical exam aimed at determining the underlying pathological condition, including severity and complications.
  • Construct an effective initial management plan including counselling and treatment.
  • Determine if the patient requires referral to secondary or tertiary care.
