The CliCBrain (Climate, Cities and Brain Health) is a global research initiative led by Trinity College Dublin that brings together 23 partners across 16 countries, including the Brain and Mind Institute, to explore how climate change and the exposome shape brain health across the life course. From environmental exposures such as extreme heat, flooding, and pollution to broader social pressures like urbanisation, migration, and inequality, these interconnected factors are increasingly recognised as critical drivers of mental and neurological health, including dementia risk.
Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions under Horizon Europe, the project aims to close key knowledge gaps by developing an extended exposome framework, generating new evidence, and identifying practical strategies to protect brain health at individual and community levels, while informing policy and building a global community of practice in this emerging field.
