Introduction
As I reflect on 2024, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the progress we've made at the Brain and Mind Institute. This year has been a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to advancing brain health in Africa, Asia, and beyond.
Our theme for this year's report, Between the Lines of Thought: Connections and Discoveries, encapsulates the essence of our work, bridging gaps in understanding, forging meaningful connections, and uncovering insights that have the potential to transform lives. From groundbreaking research on brain resilience in Kenya to the development of culturally tailored mental health interventions in Pakistan, our initiatives have set new benchmarks in neuroscience and mental health.
2024 has also been a year of firsts. We co-hosted the inaugural Nature Conference in Africa, drawing attention to the urgent need for dementia research and care in low- and middle-income countries. Our collaborations with global institutions like Harvard Medical School, the Wellcome Leap, and the FINGERS Brain Health Institute have enriched our research and expanded our reach.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our talented team, the trust of our partners, and the resilience of the communities we serve. Looking to the future, we are steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that our work continues to bring hope, healing, and innovation where it is needed most.
Thank you for being an essential part of this journey.
