Nicole Onderi 
Research Associate

Nicole Onderi is a Research Associate at the Brain and Mind Institute (BMI), where she supports the design, implementation and monitoring of brain health research projects under the FemBER–Africa project. In this role, she ensures data quality while prioritizing participant well-being throughout the research process.

She holds a degree in Psychology from Moi University and has extensive experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) as well as research. Her previous roles include serving as a Study Counsellor and Field Interviewer (qualitative and quantitative) at Aga Khan University’s Institute for Human Development, a Clinical Supervisor at Shamiri Institute, and a Research Assistant at AFRIMEB. She has also worked as a Counsellor and Child Protection Lead at Believe Mental Health Organization, contributing to mental health studies across diverse communities.

Driven by a passion to expand access to mental health care, combat stigma, and promote evidence-based interventions Nicole brings empathy, integrity and collaboration to her work.

Outside of research, she enjoys experimenting in the kitchen as an enthusiastic (though not yet certified) chef, known for serving meals with a generous side of unsolicited life advice.​
