Nashit Irfan Aziz
Research Specialist
Dr Nashit Irfan Aziz works on developing and implementing clinically relevant research in neuroscience and mental health. He contributes to grant writing and protocol development at BMI, alongside helping in What Works Project.
Nashit first became familiar with the BMI while pursuing his MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Aga Khan University. At the time, he was working as a Research Associate where he maintained recruitment in a national registry of patients with neuromuscular disorders and co-leading a project. Prior to this, he worked as a lecturer following his clinical training, while contributing to several manuscripts. These experiences provided the foundation for his transition.
He enjoys exploring everyday ideas and transforming them into research questions. With a background in medicine and passion for writing, he chose to pursue Public Health. Teaching is another passion that has remained constant throughout his career, and he enjoys sharing knowledge with the next generation of healthcare professionals.
He was awarded the Fogarty Fellowship through the NIH–Aga Khan University training program during MSc and graduated with a distinction. He was also awarded the Best Graduate Medal during his MBBS. His research interests evolve largely around neuroepidemiology.
