Moreen Githinji
Research Assistant

Moreen Githinji is a Research Assistant contributing to the NeuroGAP-Psychosis II project, a study focused on advancing understanding of the neuropsychiatric genetics of African populations. Her primary responsibilities include participant recruitment and enrollment, data management, and monitoring and evaluation.​​

​​​Moreen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with IT from Maseno University. She also holds a Certificate in Clinical Supervision from the Shamiri Institute.​​

Prior to joining BMI, Moreen worked as a Research Assistant and Clinical Supervisor at the Shamiri Institute where she was involved in recruiting and training fellows to deliver the Shamiri Intervention to high school students.

She also provided psychosocial support and counseling to students and helped establish effective referral pathways for cases requiring additional support and specialized interventions. She also contributed to the MAISHA study, a research project conducted in Kenya and Tanzania that examined the efficacy and acceptability of a blended intervention for emotion regulation among young people. Her responsibilities included data collection, transcription, data analysis and interpretation, as well as providing psychosocial support to study participants.

Moreen is passionate about mental health research and supporting initiatives that improve psychological well-being among young people. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, watching documentaries and karaoke.​​​​
