Fredrick Ochieng Odhiambo
Study Coordinator
Fredrick Odhiambo currently coordinates the NeuroGAP-Psychosis-II Study, a research initiative focused on investigating the genetic architecture of psychotic disorders and advancing understanding of genetic diversity across African populations.
Fredrick has a background in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mental Health and Psychiatry. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public health, further strengthening his understanding of population health and evidence-based healthcare.
His research experience includes working as a Research Assistant on the TREND Study, which examined renal outcomes among people living with HIV receiving TDF-based and TDF-sparing treatment regimens. He also served as a Surveillance Clinician in the Pfizer Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Study, investigating Candida species associated with invasive fungal infections at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
In addition, Fredrick worked as a Research Assistant and Coordinator during Phase I of the NeuroGAP Study, supporting research into the genetics of psychotic disorders and genetic variation among African populations. These experiences have equipped him with skills in clinical research coordination, participant engagement, data collection, surveillance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Fredrick is passionate about advancing psychiatric research and strengthening mental health care through rigorous clinical coordination and evidence-based practice. His professional motivation lies in combining clinical expertise with research excellence to contribute to stronger research collaborations.
Areas of Interest: Mental health research, psychiatric genetics, and public health improvement across African populations.
