πŸ“œ District History & Formation

Matiari (Sindhi: Ω…Ω½ΫŒΨ§Ψ±ΩŠ, Urdu: Ω…ΩΉΫŒΨ§Ψ±ΫŒ) became an independent district on May 30, 2004 (officially notified April 4, 2005) when Hyderabad was divided into four districts during President Pervez Musharraf's administration. The name "Matiari" derives from two Sindhi words: Mat (earthen water pot) and yari (friendship), reflecting the cultural tradition where a lady provided water to travelers from earthen pots.
