Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital is a Joint Commission International Accredited tertiary care hospital. It is a philanthropic, not-for-profit, private institution committed to provide exemplary high quality health care. 

The Aga Khan University Hospital Clinical Laboratories are the first and only in Pakistan to be accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which is considered as a gold standard in laboratory testing in the world. We are one of the largest lab networks in the world that is CAP accredited, and with our team of highly qualified faculty, phlebotomists and technologists, we ensure to deliver fast and accurate results for routine and specialized testing, that are accepted by the doctors nationwide and globally. Our laboratory network is present in more than 290 locations spread over 125 cities in Pakistan and our value-added services include mobile app service, stat reports, SMS alert, home lab sample collection (blood, urine, stool and other samples are collected from home), e-reports, real-time critical result reporting, multi-column reports and much more. 

Responsibilities

You will be required to undergo a one-year training programme, which includes classroom lectures and bench-side training to provide in-depth knowledge of Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Histopathology, Microbiology and Molecular Pathology.

Requirements

You should have:

  • a BS degree in Medical Lab Technology, Microbiology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Clinical diagnostics or any other relevant discipline, while having a MSc degree will be preferred
  • minimum CGPA of 3.0 and the degree should have been acquired during the last two years
  • willingness to work in shift duties (mornings, evenings and nights)
  • good interpersonal skills
  • ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams.

The selection process includes written assessments and interviews of shortlisted candidates. A stipend will be paid during the training programme. The work location of the training programme will be Karachi. Candidates from other cities will be responsible for their own accommodation and travel expenses. After six months of training, these candidates will be assigned to the closest stat labs as per the operational need.

 

On successful completion of the one-year programme, trainees will be eligible for full-time positions at any of our laboratories, subject to satisfactory performance during the traineeship period and availability of positions.
