Introduction

An exciting opportunity to conduct health policy and systems research on how to improve the quality of healthcare provided by private doctors(GPs) in Pakistan. This study is run jointly by the Aga Khan University and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and will offer opportunities for close collaboration with international colleagues and career development (including presenting at international conferences and leading on journal publications).

The position will be based full-time in Pakistan

Responsibilities

The candidate will be an integral part of the research and resulting publications, with responsibilities including: 
  • designing and implementing the research activities, liaising with colleagues at AKU and LSHTM
  • analysing qualitative and quantitative data
  • drafting manuscripts and policy briefs and other high-quality technical documents summarising data collected
  • managing coordination/administration of research activities including setting up of interviews and field staff and field visits 
  • liaising with healthcare providers’ (HCPs) and project partners including government stakeholders as lead person
  • ensuring project activities, deliverables and their timelines as met as per the project plan
  • participating in and organize meetings and seminars related to the project
  • arranging research dissemination activities including coordination with government and other stakeholders

Requirements

You should have:
  • PHD in public health or social science related field
  • substantial experience in conducting public health research using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • knowledge of the health system and health care industry in Pakistan
  • familiar with the government policies, affairs and technologies
  • ability to work independently and problem solve 
  • knowledge of computer applications and programming skills including Stata or other statistical analysis software
  • excellent written and verbal communication
  • excellent interpersonal and management skills
