Introduction

The Heart, Lungs and Vascular Service Line at the Aga Khan University Hospital offers the most advanced and comprehensive cardiac, pulmonary and vascular care across the country. Our team of Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Cardiothoracic Surgeons​, Vascular Surgeons, Cardiac Nurses and Imaging Technicians, work together to deliver specialized and individualized care for our patients suffering from heart disease​ and disorders. Our cardiac services offer a full range of primary prevention, diagnostic (laboratory testing, clinical imaging, cardiopulmonary) to interventional (angiograph, angiogram), surgical (coronary artery bypass graft, also known as CABG) and rehabilitation options. This is the largest centre of its kind in the region, helping in the better diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases.

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Clinical Nurse Instructor in Heart Lungs & Vascular Service Line.

Responsibilities

You will be expected to: 
  • work as a resource person for patients and their families for the clinical issues and support consultants in their clinical care plan
  • plan and execute staff developmental activities including in-service sessions and training workshops according to the specialty
  • participate actively in imparting patients / family education and support
  • maintains the data of the patients and participates in clinical and quality audits and research related to the Cardio thoracic unit
  • coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality of patient care
  • assess patient care and acuity trends
  • demonstrate initiatives to review concepts of Quality Improvement in Nursing Practice (QINP).

Requirements

You should have:
  • a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited school
  • valid license from Pakistan Nursing Council
  • knowledge regarding clinical issues of the patients who comes under the Heart, Lungs and Vascular
  • atleast 3 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse or equivalent as appropriate
  • certification in basic life support, safe medication administration, I/V cannulation, conscious sedation (as applicable), NRP certified, ECG interpretation and aseptic techniques
  • excellent interpersonal skills, particularly communication and people management skills
  • ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently
  • willingness to work during weekends when required.
