Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 300+ Clinical Laboratories, 50+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. The Nutrition and Food Services Department (NFSD) provides a range of products and services to students, faculty, staff as well as patients and their attendants. It comprises of a team of experienced clinical nutritionists, dietitians, and foodservice professionals. The services are provided through six sections; clinical nutrition, patient meal services, cafeteria & catering services, food production, food safety management and cost control and approximately 13,000-15,000 meals are served in a day.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:
  • Maintain the routine store documentation effectively and ensure safety of store and store keys.
  • Issue and receive of store commodities and ensure the proper rotation of commodities as per the system.
  • Responsible for accuracy of postings and entries in the receiving register/computer.
  • Carry out routine cleaning of dry store, walk-ins and beverage storage areas.
  • Responsible to issue and receive food commodities as per appropriate documents and ensure that stock is properly rotated in line with FIFO protocol and food commodities are placed in designated area neat & tidy.
  • Dispose off store waste material (i.e. packing cartons etc.) in the designated areas.
  • Monitor the temperature of refrigerators/freezers daily as per the system. 
  • Examine the quality and quantity of the incoming products.
  • Responsible for the accurate postings of all in-coming out-going food commodities on to computerized inventory system and also to receiving register.
  • Ensure the monitoring and recording of all walk-in refrigerators, freezers temperature daily as per the system.
  • Responsible to ensure the examining of quality & quantity of all in-coming & out-going commodities.
  • Assist and perform monthly stock check/inventories as per routine system.
  • Take monthly physical inventories of all items in the store.
  • Work involves shift duties as assigned.

Requirements

You should have:
  • Graduate: 2-3 years of related work experience
                     OR
         Intermediate: 3-4 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of inventory principles.
  • Knowledge of food commodities both perishable/non-perishable.
  • Ability to handle challans, requisitions.
  • Ability to do food costing and analysis
  • Proficient at the use of computer software/ programs.
