AKU’s research has a real-world world impact. In rural Pakistan, it has saved an estimated 11,000 lives. It has led to the introduction of life-saving vaccines. It has reduced polio cases in hard-to-reach areas. And it has shaped national and international health policy and practice. Six of Pakistan’s top-10 health researchers are AKU faculty members, according to the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology, and their work has been published in the world’s top medical journals.  

The impact of our faculty’s teaching can be seen in the careers of our graduates. From remote rural clinics in Africa and Asia to the laboratories and classrooms of Ivy League universities, they are earning a reputation as leaders and innovators.
