Aga Khan University’s Medical College is encouraging students to apply for its graduate programmes which are tailored to meet the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The four graduate programmes offer opportunities to students seeking to conduct cutting-edge research, learning how to respond to global health issues and enhancing their clinical knowledge. The programmes aim to prepare students to become leaders in health education.
“Now more than ever our master’s programmes are of particular importance especially in managing a public health crisis like COVID-19,” said Medical College Dean Dr Adil Haider.
The epidemiology and biostatistics programme is encouraging applications from students looking to study the spread of diseases and its use in addressing public health problems in Pakistan.
The master’s degree in health policy and management incorporates policy and programmatic components that relate to the current pandemic. “The dynamic health policy and management courses will equip students with new knowledge and responses to public health needs through case studies and scenarios, which are one of the unique pedagogies of the degree,” said Narjis Rizvi, associate professor and programme director in the department of community health sciences.
The MPhil in Biological and Biomedical Sciences provides prospects for research and learning leading to PhD training to biomedical scientists. “The exciting and well-structured MPhil curriculum will encourage students from diverse backgrounds to apply and will offer a wonderful opportunity to conduct breakthrough investigations in different aspects of COVID-19,” said Dr Fazal Arain, assistant professor and programme director in the department.
The Master of Health Professions Education degree will enable students to become innovators and leaders in medical, dental, nursing and allied health education.
