The main aim of the English for Work course is to provide participants with a language-rich environment in order to develop their skills in English for work-related situations. It was delivered via face-to-face classroom teaching and an integrated online component.
The class was divided into two groups, in order to provide more individualized attention and to cater better for each participant’s level of English development. The participants were confident and very eager to learn and improve their English. They attended the face-to-face classes with great zeal and wanted to practise their English at every opportunity.
This course is offered twice a year and has limited seats available. One of the main features of this course is the British Council, LearnEnglish Select online learning component. These materials are specifically designed to develop English language skills for work purposes.
Here is some feedback from two of the course participants:
| “The Aga Khan University, Network of English Language Enhancement offers several English language courses from which I would like to share my experience about the “English for Work” course. Once a week we had face-to-face interactive sessions with online modules related to the topics that had been covered in the class. Firstly, I would like to share that it was a wonderful learning experience. The interactive sessions helped us to enhance our English speaking skills and our confidence to speak in front of a wider audience. Secondly, the topics that were covered in this course were very relevant to our daily office routine whether it was related to responding emails, phone calls, scheduling appointments or meetings, responding to clients, handling complaints, preparing and doing presentations, marketing strategies and many more. Finally, I would like to thank ELE_net for making English language learning enjoyable for us.” Hina Virani
