As we move forward, we will acquire further recognition of our programmes through international accrediting bodies. A task force has been formed by the Dean of the Medical College to revamp PGME's programme structure to include competence based curricula, development of year-wise EPAs, identification of competencies, educational continuity, monitoring and evaluation, governance mechanisms required for effective implementation, trainee selection, conditions of work and employment. Emphasis is placed on enhancing a culture of research amongst trainees; to achieve this, a research portal is being developed to facilitate trainees and supervising faculty members to keep a track of projects.

Emergency Medicine is the first PGME department to develop an annual newsletter, with the first volume launched as part of the department's silver jubilee celebrations. The Serving Patients At Risk Through Agile Novelties, SPARTAN, newsletter aims to showcase the residency programme's achievements and collaborations that are creating impact on a national and international scale. "The Aga Khan University continues to play a pioneering role in the field of medical education. Since its advent, the AKU PGME has been a source of imparting research based knowledge along with ethical, personal and professional development of its trainees.
This year commemorates the 26th year of PGME. In the midst of an unprecedented global health crisis it feels not right to celebrate but at PGME, we believe that despite the odds, the valor and commitment displayed by our trainees should be acknowledged and applauded.
The celebrations commenced in December 2020 with a mini symposium being followed by several educational events throughout the year. It will conclude in a conference at the end of the year, capped with a silver jubilee convocation."
