The library offers a multitude of services for its users through state-of-the-art systems.​

​​Borrowing Service​​​​​​​

The library follows different borrowing policies for different user categories:

  • Faculty members can borrow up to 5 books at a time for one month. They are allowed to renew their borrowed books twice.

  • Students have a borrowing limit of 4 books, with a loan duration of two weeks. They can renew their borrowed books twice.

  • Staff members are allowed to borrow 2 books for two weeks, with the option to renew them twice.

​Self-Check Kiosk​

The FAS Library has two self-check kiosks located at the entrance and in the reading area:

  • Library members having barcodes on valid AKU ID cards can use these kiosks to check i n/out items.
  • Please follow the on-screen instructions while using the self-check kiosks.
  • Remember to collect your receipt after checking out items.
  • Regular borrowing rules apply.​​





Laptop Lending Service

The FAS library offers laptops to its users during library opening hours for study purposes, ensuring they can be utilized effectively within the library premises. To utilize this service

  • Users are required to present their valid AKU ID card.

  • Laptops are issued through the systems for a period of four hours with two renewals.

  • An overdue reminder will be sent to the borrower if  the laptop is not returned within the specified time limit.





​Reference Service

The library facilitates users in literature searching, database searching, guide users about the library resources, inform about impact factor of journals, authentic journal, and publisher etc. 

  • This service may avail in-person at the circulation desk.

​Ask Us : Online LibChat Service

The LibChat Service provides a one-on-one tool during working hours for website visitors to ask questions related to the library to a librarian.

​Plagiarism Checking Service

The library provides a plagiarism checking service to promote originality within scholarly works and to preserve academic integrity.

  • Users can avail this service by sending in their research work to the library via email at turnitinhelp.pk@aku.edu.

  • The library processes the submission via Turnitin, and a similarity index report is generated.

  • The report sends to the requester within 4 to 5 working days.​





​Electronic Document Delivery Service

The library cooperates with its partner libraries to gain access to articles and literature not available through library subscribed resources.

  • Faculty, researchers, and students can avail this service by sending requests via email at faslibrary.karachi@aku.edu

  • If available, a soft copy of the article is arranged for the requester within 3 to 5 working days.​​





​Digital Archiving Service

The AKU library manages and showcases institutional intellectual output; articles, books, and theses etc through digital institutional repository, eCommons to facilitate worldwide readership leading to an increase in the profile and prestige of the institution. It also provides a platform to the faculty and researchers for open-access web publishing (e-journals and e-books).  Library encourages faculty and researchers to submit their list of publications at faslibrary.karachi@aku.edu  to upload on the repository.  The repository can be access by clicking at https://ecommons.aku.edu

​Media Group Study Rooms

There are four Me dia Study Group rooms available for students to promote collaborative and productive learning. These rooms are available from Monday to Friday, between 9 am to 7 pm.  Reservations can be made in hourly slots. To reserve a room, please fill out this form. ​



​ICT Service Desk

The FAS Library hosts an ICT  Service Desk, offering technical support and assistance to users. The dedicated IT staff space ensures students and faculty have easy access to:

  • Digital tools
  • Connectivity
  • IT-related queries.

Printing Service

Students may get academic and research-related pages printed from the library during opening hours. To use the printing service, follow the steps outlined below:

  • Fill out the Printing Service Request Form.

  • Attach the file that you need to print. Please ensure your files are print-ready and respect copyright rules.

  • Submit the form.

  • Pay the payment in cash at the Help Desk.

  • Collect the printing papers you requested.

  • Receive the payment slip from the Library Staff at the Help Desk.
