The Fourth Capacity & Networking Project (CANP) - the Mathematical Sciences and Education in the Developing World​​​

CANP is a major development focus of the international bodies of mathematicians and mathematics educators (International Mathematical Union, IMU & International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, ICMI) in conjunction with UNESCO and International Congress of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, ICIAM.​

More than 100 maths teachers, teacher educators and experts from the region were in Dar es Salaam to attend the conference which was aimed at advancing mathematics education in the region.This exciting 12-day event, offered participants’ lectures, panel discussions on current issues in mathematics education, hands-on workshops and activities, and the opportunity to network with math practitioners and rese​archers. There were speakers from Botswana, Mozambique, Canada, France, Italy and Pakistan.

CANP4 is supported by the International Mathematical Union, the International Commission of Mathematical Instruction and the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development East Africa, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The project is also endorsed by the ICSU Regional Office for Africa (ICSU ROA).​
