Dr. Muneer earned her PhD in Molecular Medicine from the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Pakistan. Her doctoral research focused on developing stem cell-based therapies to repair and regenerate cardiovascular-damaged tissues. In 2024, she joined the Aga Khan University’s Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (AKU-CRM) as a postdoctoral fellow, with a joint appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences. She is exploring new frontiers in regenerative ophthalmology by investigating the key signalling pathways involved in retinal ganglion cell fate determination using advanced organoid models.
