​Section I: Cognitive, Behavioural​, Clinical and Procedural Skills Learning and Assessment Circuit​​

The flexible multi-purpose twelve two-room units can interchangeably b​e used as a simulated clinic or for small group learning. The rooms are equipped with interactive multi-boards and have examiner observation facilities via one way glass.

Section I has a Si​mulated Patient Registry Center and videoconferencing facilities.​​


​Higher Order Cognitive Skills Development

Section I has facilities for small group learning, ​video-based learning and learning by virtual reality.

​Developing Effective Communication Skills and Professionalism

  1. St​​udents learn patient-centered ​​​interviewing, reassuring and health education / behaviour modification counseling skills,​ breaking bad news and ​dealing with difficult patients, and conflict resolution and negotiation skills.​

  2. Students learn to be culturally sensitive and to make ethical choic​​​es, while becoming comfortable with talking to simulated patients.


Clinical Skills

​Students learn history taking and physical examination​, with emp​hasis on life-saving e​xercises, sensitive examinations and where student refusal may occur. They also learn the basic procedural skills.

Team Building

Section I promotes team-building through small group discussions and team-based simulations​ - an important goal for CIME.

 Assessment​

​Designed as a circuit with observation rooms, Section I is ideal for holding ​Objective Struct​ured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
