Nida Zahid
Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr Nida Zahid earned her MBBS from Dow Medical College, followed by a Master’s in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Aga Khan University (AKU), and a PhD from Uppsala University, Sweden. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Dr Zahid currently serves as Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Surgery at AKU and is an affiliated researcher at Uppsala University. She has been a faculty member at AKU since 2014 and has contributed extensively to research, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and more than 10 research grants to her credit.

Her research focuses on mental health—particularly resilience, quality of life, and neurocognitive outcomes in cancer patients. She is also actively involved in several institutional research committees, including the Grant Review Committee (GRC), Ethics Review Committee (ERC), Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Research Module Committee, and the AKU Medical College Research Committee.

Dr Zahid has served on the editorial team for the journal Frontiers in Psychology, and her contributions to research have been recognized through several accolades, including the “Research Scientist of the Year Award” from the Department of Surgery in both 2019 and 2025, and the University Award for Excellence in Research in 2021.

In addition to her research, Dr. Zahid is deeply engaged in teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. She is part of supervisory committees for graduate students at the Departments of Community Health Sciences and the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) at AKU, as well as undergraduate students at Uppsala University.​​​
