The four-year, direct-entry, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programme aims to equip nursing students with the skills and competencies needed to function in areas such as patient-centered care, team​​​work and interpr​ofessional practice, evidence-based practice, quality improvement ​and use of informatics and technology to enhance the quality of care. 

Upon completion of the programme, the graduates will be eligible to enter the nursing profession as intern nurses. After passing the mandatory licensure examination by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), they will be required to complete a one-year internship to qualify for the license to practice as professional nurses.​

The programme offers need-based financ​​​​​​ial assistance. ​​

Admissions

For the 2026 admission cycle, applications for admission will commence on December 5, 2025, and the deadline for submission of applications will be March 27, 2026.​

​Eligibility Criteria​

Following is the eligibility​ criteria applicable ​​for 2025:​​​​​​​​

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) holder

A minimum aggregate score of C+ (plus). In addition, ​​​applicants must meet the following cluster requirements:

  • An aggregate grade of C+ in the cluster of subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics; and English or Kiswahili; OR

  • An aggregate grade of C+ in the cluster of subjects: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics; and English or Kiswahili 

2. Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education holders 

Minimum entry requirements include 2 Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry, and a subsidiary pass in Mathematics or Physics.

Note:

1. Applicants who are sitting for their certification examinations in the summer of 2026 may apply provisionally. However, an official admission letter will only be issued upon submission of the results, which must be received no later than the date that will be communicated.

2. Applicants whose basic training in certificate or diploma level was obtained abroad are required to present a valid certificate of qualification equivalence or an equivalent validation issued by Kenya​ national Qualifications Authority (KNQA).
