Job Summary
This role will support the SPARK study (Supporting African communities to increase the Resilience and Mental Health of Kids with developmental disorders and their caregivers). The purpose of this assignment is to provide diagnostic assessment and clinical care for children screened for developmental disabilities in the catchment areas of the SPARK study. 

The successful candidate will be hired on a short term staggered contract and will operate from the health facilities in the SPARK research catchment area (Informal settlements of Dagoretti and Ruaraka sub-counties). He/she shall report to the Principal Investigator and other senior project team members.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical diagnostic verification of children assessed by frontline workers for developmental disabilities within SPARK research catchment areas;
  • Assist with provision of clinical care to children assessed;
  • Provide information, education and support to families or guardians on developmental disabilities and management;
  • Increase caregiver awareness on developmental disabilities and management;
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating protocols and ethical regulations of the SPARK study;
  • Effective communication and coordination with health and research teams; and
  • Timely submission of study records and reports.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and registered with the Clinical Officers Council;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in clinical care or research studies;
  • Training in Good Clinical Practice. Certification of online courses such as TRREE and NIH is highly recommended;
  • Able to work extra hours when needed and with minimal supervision;
  • Able to work with vulnerable populations such as those with neurological or mental health disorders; 
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality; and
  • Teamwork with the ability to work with diverse teams.
