Introduction

Aga Khan University chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international University, is committed to providing education, research, and health care of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital has well-equipped investigative services and provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities.

The Department of Surgery provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatrics Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, and Vascular Surgery. The department has 113 full-time and part-time faculty with a solid commitment to teaching and research. Formal structured undergraduate teaching, postgraduate residency, and fellowship programmes are integrated into the academic functions of the department.

Responsibilities

The appointee will have an independent consultant status and undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and specified administrative activities.

Requirements

The appointee must have completed a structured postgraduate training programme from a reputable institution and possess FCPS, FRCS, American Board, or equivalent qualifications. 

MIS training or experience in high-end Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) is mandatory. 

Applicants for Assistant Professor should have at least two years’ experience as Senior Instructor or equivalent. In addition, they should have demonstrated scholarship through research, publications, and/or contribution to education.

Applicants for Associate Professor should have at least eight years of teaching/research experience in an HEC recognized University with five years' post-terminal experience of teaching and a minimum of 10 research publications in journals recognized jointly by HEC and PMDC, with at least 4 of these publications in the last five years.
