The Aga Khan University Media Innovation Centre, together with its partners, Mozilla Corporation are looking for content curators from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to join our efforts to establish the Pocket platform in East Africa.
Mozilla owns and licenses the Pocket® app, which is a mobile and desktop application that enables users to save interesting articles, videos and other content to their Pocket account and to view and/or listen to such articles, videos and other content via the app later from any device. Pocket aims to empower people to discover, organize, consume and share high quality content that matters to them through the Pocket Website and the Pocket App (collectively, the “Pocket Platform”). In this regard, Mozilla (Pocket Platform) is partnering with the Aga Khan University Media Innovation Center to elevate East African stories that are worthy of the audience’s time and attention.
To achieve this, we want to work with brilliant local content curators who will propose articles and collections of fascinating topics for the East African audience to Mozilla’s Pocket platform. We are looking for intellectually curious content curators and subject matter experts, who will identify and recommend high-quality East African content—the kind that informs, entertains, inspires, and provides fresh perspective on East African issues. These stories will be sourced from a wider and diverse assortment of publications that have a track record of trustworthy and accurate coverage.
About The Media Innovation Center
The Media Innovation Centre – Aga Khan University supports media innovators and entrepreneurs who are working on unique start-ups within the media industry We support innovators through training, mentorship, coaching and start up grants of up to $20,000 to help them transform their ideas into the next big thing. We also host a events such as conferences, roundtables, research colloquiums and fireside chats to discuss media viability and future of journalism in East Africa. The Centre is funded by the German Development Bank (KfW Entwicklungsbank) within the context of Futures Project. The key objective of the Futures Project is to strengthen the long-term viability of quality media in East Africa, making a demonstrable contribution to the quality of and access to media in East Africa. We are based in Nairobi, Kenya.
