The multidisciplinary Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences based in the Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, strives to deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate education cutting across and integrating the disciplines of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. The Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of fulltime Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences in the discipline of Physiology.

Responsibilities

Active participation and contribution towards teaching of Physiology to undergraduate medical (MBBS), MPhil, PhD and other academic programs of the department and the institution, designing and development of innovative teaching methodologies and participation in curricular renewal exercises, supervision and mentorship of MPhil and PhD students, development of multidisciplinary/collaborative research projects of translational value and mentorship of junior faculty members in the department.

Requirements

An MBBS or equivalent degree with PhD in biological/medical sciences.

Applicants for the position of Associate Professor should have 5 years of experience as Assistant Professor with demonstrated scholarship of teaching Physiology at undergraduate (MBBS) and graduate levels, supervision of MPhil/PhD students, and independent research in a defined area of focus evidenced through publications, grants, presentations and established research collaborations nationally and/or internationally.

Applicants for the position of Assistant Professor should have 2 years of postdoctoral experience, demonstrated high quality teaching capacity in Physiology at undergraduate (MBBS) level, and a good record of grants, publications, presentation, and/or other forms of dissemination.
