Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital Clinical Laboratories are the first and only in Pakistan to be accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which is considered as a gold standard in laboratory testing in the world. We are one of the largest lab networks in the world that is CAP accredited, and with our team of highly qualified faculty, phlebotomists and technologists, we ensure to deliver fast and accurate results for routine and specialized testing, that are accepted by the doctors nationwide and globally. Our laboratory network is present in more than 290 locations spread over 125 cities in Pakistan and our value-added services include mobile app service, stat reports, SMS alert, home lab sample collection (blood, urine, stool and other samples are collected from home), e-reports, real-time critical result reporting, multi-column reports and much more.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • verify each patient’s identification and check lab tests requisition slips and patient’s status through verbal questioning to ensure that  the test requirements for collection of correct samples are fulfilled
  • perform accurate and gentle vein puncture procedures to collect blood and inject the same into the specific containers according to the test requirements to provide quality services
  • label each patient’s sample container before collection of specimen according to the laboratory protocols to avoid mix-up of specimens
  • follow safety precautions at all times, including disposing off sharp objects in sharp container and maintain clean work area
  • explain phlebotomy procedures to patients for special and routine lab tests according to the lab testing requirements and protocols to ensure collection of correct sample using the right method.

Requirements

You should have:

  • Matriculation, preferably Intermediate
  • at least one year of relevant experience, particularly of venipuncture on adult and paediatric patients
  • ability to effectively communicate verbally as well as in written
  • good command on phlebotomy procedures and adequate knowledge of various collection containers
  • good interpersonal skills
  • willingness to work in shift duties.
