Aga Khan University- School of Nursing and Midwifery supported by the Johnson and Johnson Foundation, United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA) and Ministry of Health through the Office of the Director for Nursing and Midwifery Services is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the process of development of the scopes of practice, syllabus & accreditation tools for APN & APM. 

The consultant will work under the overall direction of the Nursing Council of Kenya with close collaboration with AKU-SONAM Nursing Platform Coordinator and the Dean, SONAM, Aga Khan University. They will be engaged for four months and will be stationed at the NCK Plaza for the duration of the assignment; work with the appointed Technical Working Group (TWG). 

Responsibilities

The project coordinator will work in close collaboration with the NCK and (AKU-SONAM) to deliver on detailed specifications for the services and tasks being requested under this engagement as follows:
• Plan, organize and coordinate activities towards development of the APN/APM regulatory documents 
• Conduct a gap analysis for the APN and APM program in Kenya
• Collect, review and analyze national and international regulation framework, curricula and other necessary documents to fully identify the education, training content scope of practice for APN and APM program
• Undertake collection, review and analysis of all the required data/information from various sources, including Government departments, Ministries and other relevant sources
• Carry out stakeholder analysis to bring out the roles and responsibilities of key players and institutions that play a vital role in regulation of nurses and midwives
• In consultation with the NCK team, prepare a comprehensive list of competencies to be included in the APN and APM scope of practice and syllabi
• Logistic coordination of stakeholder workshops/consultations 
• Generation and submission of progress reports 

Expected mode of wok output: All assignments will be, delivered in electronic and hard copies unless otherwise guided by the supervising officers. Key deliverables include support in:
1. Development of scopes of practice for the APN and APM
2. Development of syllabi (course content) for the APN and APM 
3. Development of accreditation tools for the APN and APM

Requirements

Master’s degree in Medical Sciences, Public Health or Social sciences. A PhD is an added advantage
Background nursing or midwifery training is critical
At least 5 years of experience in the related field with specific skills in project coordination will be an added advantage
Wide consultancy experience with proven evidence
Ability to work with minimal supervision
High level written and oral communications skills in English and Kiswahili
Must be result-oriented, a team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm, tact, diplomacy and integrity
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills in interacting with different partners
