The Aga Khan University, School of Nursing and Midwifery seeks a consultant to facilitate the development of a 3 year East Africa strategic plan through a consultative and participatory process with key stakeholders of the university.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key stakeholders that need to be engaged and participate in development of the strategic plan
  • Hold consultations and facilitate interviews with relevant departments.
  • Develop a comprehensive methodology and work plan for the process of development of the strategic plan
  • Review current trends in higher education as well as the national strategic plan for education
  • Analyze and synthesize the information in other documents provided
  • Draft and finalize the 3-year strategic plan

Scope and Focus of the Assignment
  • Lead and guide the process of developing the 3-year strategic plan
  • Conduct a thorough but focused assessment of the School’s strengths and weakness as well as opportunities and threats
  • Map the SONAM’s internal and external stakeholders and establish their level of influence
  • Prepare an implementation matrix as part of the strategic planE
  • Ensure the highest standard of work and timely deliverables at every stage of the assignment
  • Regularly report progress through the Executive Officer, SONAM
Deliverable within specified timeframe
  • Inception outline & draft
  • Completed inception report
  • Completed strategic plan
Supervision
This will be carried out jointly by the Dean, East Africa and the Executive Officer, SONAM.

The Dean will provide guidance on all matters pertaining to the structure and content of the full inception report and the actual strategic plan while the Executive Officer will be responsible for overseeing all timelines and deadlines for key deliverables.


Requirements

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field in strategic management, planning, public policy and development studies.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the higher education sector and demonstrated experience in working with government partners and other stakeholders in public sector development programs.
  • Experience in leading a strategic planning process
