Introduction

The Department for Educational Development (DED) is a resource for the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) responsible for developing educational philosophy at FHS, for faculty development and capacity building; for supporting curricular review, revision, and programme evaluation and ensuring quality of examinations. Moreover, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine formally integrates undergraduate, postgraduate and structured residency programmes into the academic functions which are complemented and supported by research. It also serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital which is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

This will be a joint appointment in the Departments for Educational Development and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • coordinating educational activities in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education  
  • participating and conducting activities related to the DED 
  • being an educational resource for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
  • participating in meetings and activities with effective contribution in both the departments
  • initiating and participating in educational research in both the departments 
  • developing leadership in area of interest in education, undertaking research and publishing articles
  • facilitating, developing or assisting development of workshops, courses and other educational activities in Health Professions Education 
  • contributing to the Quality Assurance activities in assessment (question review and post hoc analysis) in both the departments.

Requirements

You should have:
  • an MBBS degree, preferably with additional qualifications in Medical Education or Education from an HEC recognized institution
  • at least two to three years’ experience in Health Professions Education 
  • an excellent command over written and spoken English
  • critical knowledge of principles of medical education
  • good management and presentational skills
  • ability to facilitate workshops; previous experience of teaching and facilitating workshops will be preferred.
