Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

The department is carrying out a research study which will generate important data on the impact of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) in reducing the burden of Typhoid and drug resistance among Typhoid cases in Pakistan by establishing surveillance network for Typhoid in collaboration with large laboratory networks and hospitals across Pakistan. The study will be conducted at private and public sector hospitals and laboratory networks of Sindh and Punjab.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to supervise all project related activities from field management to data collection, quality control of data collection and maintain good working relationship among staff & community. Specific responsibilities include to:
  • coordinate with staff working at field sites for the completion of tasks within the stipulated timelines 
  • supervise and monitor all field activities at all field sites, including community engagement activities
  • ensure all research related auditable materials are always up to date 
  • provide proper counselling to study participants
  • monitor all components of the project in the field, evaluating and ensuring the accuracy of the data
  • provide training to the project staff at multiple field sites.

Requirements

You should have:
  • a Master’s degree in Public Health,MBBS or equivalent
  • preferably three years of relevant experience
  • highly organized and self-motivated
  • have proven mixed methods research skills
  • excellent interpersonal skills particularly communication skills, preferably with command over local languages
  • good command on computer applications, particularly on MS Office package
  • ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope up with work pressure
  • willingness to work in field sites.
