Share
CIME organised a Shoulder Dystocia - Team Training Workshop in collaboration with SAMI Pharmaceuticals. The purpose of this workshop was to help participants to gain confidence in their skills and the maneuvers to deal with obstetric complications such as Shoulder Dystocia, before the condition progresses to emergencies.
This workshop also focused upon the improvement of teamwork, as training in a simulated delivery room by role playing is an efficient method for training shoulder dystocia management skill. The main aspects regarding teamwork that were focused were proper and effective communication and the importance of being ready with a high level of awareness and training to handle vaginal deliveries complicated by Shoulder Dystocia.
Over the period of the workshop, the participants evolved a greater understanding of how to respond to obstetric complications and emergencies such as shoulder dystocia which in turn will result in a better care provided to the community. Furthermore, the participants observed and stated effective adaptation methods to meet emergency situations.
