The Aga Khan University held a Long Service Awards Ceremony to acknowledge and honour its faculty and staff for their commitment and contribution to the University. The ceremony was held at the Sports and Rehabilitation Centre at the Stadium Road campus in Karachi.
The ceremony was an effort to celebrate full-time employees who have completed 20, 25 and 30 years of service with the University by the end of 2018. For the very first time in the University’s history, the 35 years long service awards

were introduced and 18 colleagues were recognised for the part they have played in making AKU what it is today. It included people from a variety of departments, from horticulture and health services to human resources and, Safety and Security.
On this year’s occasion, 190 employees were recognized also: 73 for 20 years, 52 for 25 years and 47 for 30 years of service.
“This is such an honour,” said Nadeem Mustafa Khan, Senior Advisor, Office of the VP, Health Services, and a recipient of the 35-year service award. “The diverse work culture here along with opportunities for growth and development has brought out the best in me as a professional.”
Addressing the ceremony, AKU President Firoz Rasul congratulated and thanked the faculty and staff for the part they have played in helping AKU achieve excellence in many areas. He appreciated the continued commitment, and dedication of employees who have selflessly contributed their expertise and experiences over a long period of time. He also thanked the families of all award recipients for their continued support.
“AKU's human resource management philosophy is based on the conviction that our most valued assets are our people,” said Carol Ariano, Vice President, Human Resources.
Dr Haile T. Debas, Chairman pro-tem of AKU’s Board of Trustees, and a large number of faculty and staff attended the ceremony, which was followed by dinner and a musical programme.
